After the introduction of Live Cases almost a month ago for the Nexus 6P, 5X, and 6, Google has released a limited edition series created by renowned artist Jeff Koons. These will be available for the Nexus 5X and 6PÂ through June or while supplies last.
Each of the three cases depicts work from Koons’ famous “Gazing Ball” series, which are recreations of famous paintings with a blue ‘gazing ball’ in front of them. The case comes with a live wallpaper depicting recreations of 28 scenes from Swan Lake and exclusive access to new artwork from Jeff Koons.
The whole premise of the live case is the image on your case links to the wallpaper on your phone. The “live” part is the wallpaper, not the case. When you double-tap your wallpaper, it will move. Also, since the case is connected to your phone, you can map an app shortcut on the case, which is quite cool. If you happen to have one of these Jeff Koons cases, your wallpaper will be a scene from Swan Lake that moves when it is double-tapped.
Live Cases normally cost $35, but these limited editions cost $40. That is not terribly expensive for a case, but it is also not cheap. If you happen to be one of the lucky people who owns a Nexus 5X or 6P, you can get them from the link below, but only until June.
