Google to debut “next dimension” of Google Maps on June 6

Google is planning to introduce the “next dimension” of Google Maps on Wednesday, June 6, where presumably we will see an updated or new version of Google Maps. What’s interesting here is Apple’s WWDC event is also around the corner, and Apple is reportedly planning to launch their very own maps application for their devices. Currently using Google Maps as the default, it remains unclear what Apple will debut.  So, is Google firing a counter-offensive here and taking the wind out of Apple’s sails?  We’ll find out soon enough.

…give you a behind-the-scenes look at Google Maps and share our vision. We’ll also demo some of the newest technology and provide a sneak peek at upcoming features that will help people get where they want to go – both physically and virtually.

As we read it, the announcement will feature Google’s “newest technology” which many are interpreting a new 3D mapping technology.  Stay tuned, we will be following along closely and will be happy to share our findings and analysis.
