Two months after its arrival, Google TV is getting a software update. Starting today, an over-the-air update will roll out to devices, addressing four key components. First up, is a Google TV Remote application which can be downloaded freely from the Android Market. The app allows for users to speak to their handset for searching, bookmarking channels and sites, and much more. Head to the bottom of this post for a video demo.

A newly updated Netflix application will give personalized recommendations based on previous viewing history as well as the ability to search, browse, and watch shows and movies. While on the topic of movies, Google TV will now offer a movie results page that pulls all films associated with a title, regardless of source (TV, Amazon, Netflix, etc.).

The fourth and final change comes in the form of new dual-view options. Users will now be able to resize the window for watching live TV and web browsing. Further, they can rearrange where the second screen displays.

If you own a Google TV and don’t see the update today, sit tight. According to the Google TV blog, this will roll out over the course of a week. In the meanwhile, download that remote control app!
