For those who like the ability to set a status for Hangouts on mobile will be happy to know you can now do the same in the Gmail client from an update.
This was available back when Google Talk was around, but it seemed as though it would be taken away with the introduction of the new Hangouts. No fear, it is now here. Complete with emojis.
To use the Gmail Hangouts client, make sure that you’ve switched to the “new Hangouts” in the window on the left. From there, you can message, set your status, and even send a SMS through Google Voice.
