HTC Acquires Inquisitive Minds, Developer of Zoodles

Could HTC create a tablet catered toward children?

HTC on Tuesday announced that they are acquiring Inquisitive Minds, the U.S.-based developer behind the kid-friendly Zoodles.  The deal is said to be worth $13m and should help HTC to create fun or unique user experiences.  While not quite as big of a deal as the Beats Audio transaction, we get the sense that average consumer types will enjoy it nonetheless.

“Children interact with technology in a wonderfully natural way,” Mr Chou said. “It’s important that they are protected while exploring and learning. We want to create a wholesome, family-oriented environment for our HTC devices, which makes Zoodles a perfect fit.”

As part of the acquisition, Inquisitive Minds, will be allowed to continue operating as a brand of its own.  Astute readers will recall seeing the Zoodles name tied to the recently announced Motorola XOOM Family Edition. Offered in free and premium models, the app provides a child-friendly interface with access to whitelisted apps.
