The upcoming HTC ‘M8’ smartphone will be HTC’s first handset to employ on-screen buttons. At least that’s what a recent tweet from evleaks tells us.

Generally speaking, it’s a mixed approach when it comes to navigation buttons on Android devices. Samsung has dabbled in various designs but lately seems relegated to a single home button with capacitive buttons. Sony likes to go all-in with the on-screen buttons and LG dances around with different approaches. It will be interesting to see if HTC goes all-in with on-screen or if they’re testing the waters.

Do you have a preference for your buttons? Does it even matter to you?
