In case you might have forgotten, HTC is in London today, talking new phones. One of the new device just unveiled is the Desire HD. Looking very much like a beefed up EVO with Sense UI, this Android 2.2 phone is another stunner from the boys of Taiwan. We’ll jump right into the cold, hard stats for you guys. We’re looking at a 1GHz processor, 1.5GB internal storage, 768MB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera, and a 4.3-inch SLCD touch screen. As mentioned at the top, it features the latest version of HTC’s Sense UI on top of Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’. The Desire HD is capable of 720p HV video recording and offers Dolby® Mobile and SRS surround sound and DLNA connectivity. There’s the requisite support for WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1, micro-USB, GPS, and 3.5mm headphone jack. We’ll be back to hit you with the official press release when it’s available!

You guys have missed something significant about Desire HD. This phone uses MSM8255 processor! This is NOT the same as the one used in HTC Evo. Evo uses the first gen Snapdragon, MSM8255 is the second generation Snapdragon, and just like HTC G2, it will feature the Adreno 205 GPU. So there should be a HUGE improvement in graphics performance over HTC Evo.
Once again, if you don’t know Adreno 205, here’s an article for you:
They call it “HD” but there’s no HDMI port?
Good point. That’s what I’ve been wondering about also. Has it been confirmed whether or not HDMI out is featured?
only a 1250 mAh battery, anyone shed some light on that, the last thing i expected is a shrunken battery pack… EVO thrashes it’s own 1500 mAh unit, i don’t care how efficient the new cpu is, this looks like a deal-breaker…
Only 1.5 gb internal storage? What’s up with that?

Anyway! The Z and HD both look great! I’m an anxious T-Mobile USA customer who is hoping those become the G2 and MyTouch HD. I’m starting to lean toward the latter, but when might it be released?
I’m really disappointed by this announcement. I thought prior to today that there was no way HTC would offer such minimal tech in a post iPhone 4 world. The CPU and RAM are great. But the storage, battery, and camera just leave me underwhelmed. Honestly, now that the bootloader on the iPhone has been hacked, the tinkerers (read: people who find Android appealing) don’t really have much to worry about, save for the bizarrely delicate brick-o-glass design.
Why do you need so much internal space? The SD card is there for media and upping to 1Gb free after the OS in combination with froyo allowing apps on SD certainly deals with the app space problem in the Desire.
Leaving the SD size down to the user is a good move because lots of us don’t need gigs and gigs, so for a lot of people that would be unnecesarily pushing up the price. tbh I can’t see many people paying £200 odd extra to get an iphone with worse hardware specs and then putting android on it rather than simply going out and buying a bigger SD card.
Hey, HTC is so good. I really recommend. I have htc diamond and I’m happy!
coming to tmobile?
