Immersion Releases Haptic Feedback SDK for Android

Immersion Corporation, who has been a leader in touch feedback technology, has released MOTIV SDK 1.0, a tool kit for Android developers to easily integrate a variety of haptic feedback into their applications.

Haptics are the touch-based feedback you get from your phone, such as the little buzz that tells you you’ve long-pressed long enough. But what Immersion has for developers goes way beyond a simple buzz. Their MOTIV SDK allows access to a library of hundreds of pre-designed effects, from simulating the vibrating strings of a guitar to the kickback of various weapons and explosions. Code samples and other resources make it easy for developers to use the effect that works best in their app.

Developers wanting to get started with the MOTIV SDK can get more information at Immersion’s Android portal. And a demo app to give you an idea of the effects possible is available  in the Android Market.
