Lenovo has just unveiled a new Android-powered tablet at IFA in the form of the IdeaPad A1 (previous coverage). Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and featuring a 7-inch display, it’s a great barrier point for those looking to get a solid, but affordable, Android experience in a tablet. Hardware details for the $199 version include a 1024×600 display, 8GB internal storage, 3-megapixel camera (rear) and front-facing camera, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Unfortunately the A1 will be offered in 8GB overseas but we’ll only see the 16GB ($249) and 32GB ($299) versions here in the United States. Lenovo is the type of brand that could bridge the gap between cheap, knock-off brand tablets and more reputable devices. According to Engadget, the tablet is not likely to receive Honeycomb, a bit of a downer if you ask us. Look for the IdeaPad A1 in pink, white, black, or blue when it streets later this year.
