LG has pulled a fast one on us. Just a week before CES in Las Vegas, they’ve slipper the Optimus 2 (AS680) under the radar with a discreet launch. The Optimus successor will be packing:
- 3.2″ capacitive display
- 800MHz processor
- Video Recording and Playback
- 1,500 mAh battery
- Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
- 3.2MP Auto-focus Camera
- GPS
- SD card support up to 32GB
So while the launch is sudden, the specs leave a little (okay, a lot) to be desired, and a 3.2-inch devices with 800MHz processors tend to be a bit slow in our experience.
What say you, our faithful readers? Is LG just warming up with the Optimus 2, or can we expect great things from them at CES? Sound off in the comments!

I’ve been waiting my butt off for this phone! Can’t wait to get this! It so blows away the upcoming iPhone 2G! … What? What do you mean I’ve been in a comma and have missed the last 5 yrs? This phone has to be the latest and greatest. The world has gone mad! Mad I tell ya!
They’re not discussing the internal storage, which was the big problem with the Optimus One, et alia?
So, they’ve bumped the processor by 200 MHz? We’d see those “low storage” warnings much more quickly?
