In 2016, LG experimented quite a lot. It launched the LG V20 which comes with a secondary display for notifications and unveiled the LG G5 flagship – a modular endeavor.

But despite LG’s efforts a creating a worthy modular phone, most customers turned their attention towards other offerings. The same happened to the LG V20 – which albeit offering high-end specifications and advanced audio, failed to become a best-seller.

Upcoming LG G6

Well it seems that in 2017, LG is going to return to good old classic designs. The LG G6 which is expected to launch at MWC 2017 won’t be a modular device anymore and according to recent rumors, the LG V30 will drop the secondary display.

Sources familiar with the matter also seem to indicate that the LG V30 will be more powerful than the LG G6. By now you probably know that the LG G6 won’t take advantage of a Snapdragon 835 chipset, as Samsung has reserved the initial batch for its Galaxy S8 beast.

The LG G6 will have to make do with the Snapdragon 821, but if rumors are correct the LG V30 will be the only LG flagship this year to take advantage of Qualcomm’s new premium chipset.

We’re also told the phone will feature 6GB of RAM, dual cameras both on the front and back (!) and improved DAC compared to its predecessor. Last but not least, the report claims the phone will come equipped with a few “more mysterious features” although no additional information was provided.

The LG G6 is shaping up to be a pretty interesting device and you can read all about it in our LG G6 rumor roundup, but maybe the LG V30 will turn out to be even better. According to the current rumor, the phone might make it on the market in the second half of 2017.

  1. No surprise the V20 wasn’t a best seller, it wasn’t available in many markets, and wasn’t really marketed.

    • I might have got a V20. Except, LG took their time allowing bootloader unlocks, and they only decided to allow it on the US996 variant, which does *not* have the right band support for where I live.

  2. I should start saving from now. Currently having Lenovo Vibe X3 awesome phone a real flagship killer, had HTC M9 Plus which was stolen after getting Vibe X3 for less than half the price of M9 plus I was surprised how everything was better, screen, front firing speaker AND Cameras. HTC means “Help This Company” (somebody wrote in comments section of HTC Ultra teardown video?). But Lenovo have the by far worst after sales service I have ever seen, HTC was very good in that. My phone MoBo was replaced within 10 days I bought it from Amazon and should not fail to mention that Connought Place in Delhi’s service centre is worst, the manager is ready get fresh and physical any time and will not be ashamed to ask for money even in warranty period by showing small scratch as big damage. Lenovo is not rolling android Noughat even this phone supports it.

LG please If you charge premium price please provide premium after sales, very important please make phone with premium quality components (“quality has lost its place even in Google keyword” Type Quality components used or similar keywords and you won’t find direct hit!). Please advertise your product more I would really love that V30 if it’s gonna a stellar beast like mentioned above to sell more.
Also please supply real good quality earplugs not the one B&O which was not really worth 18k! and the quality.

I hope someone is reading, I hope whatever I wrote makes sense to someone.
