MOG today announced that they will soon be offering a free, ad-supported version of its award-winning on-demand music service.  How soon?  Chances are that by the time you read this post the service is live (9:00AM EDT | 6:00AM PDT) .  Music fans will now find that they can access MOG’s entire database (11 million+ songs) for free with no installable client application or credit card needed.  The free version will be ad-free for the first 60 day, plenty enough time to kick the tires without distractions. 

These Free listeners will receive a a virtual “gas tank”  worth of music called FreePlay which shows exactly how much free music is left.  The tank can be refilled by simply participating in activities that show engagement and/or drive more adoption. Examples might include creating and sharing playlists, exploring the site, referring friends to listen, and more.

MOG’s free service is web only. Listeners can upgrade to one of the following subscription plans:

  • MOG Basic, $4.99 per month: Access to MOG on online via MOG’s web players or desktop client for Mac OS and through CE devices including Boxee, Roku, LG Internet connected TVs & Blu-ray players.
  • MOG Primo, $9.99 per month: Access to MOG through mobile devices (iPhone, iPod touch and Android), online via MOG’s web players or desktop client for Mac OS) via Sonos and through all Basic platforms (Boxee, Roku, LG Internet connected TVs & Blu-ray players).
