Motorola Aquires Aloqa to Enhance MOTOBLUR

In an effort to strengthen and enhance MOTOBLUR, Motorola has acquired Aloqa, a location-based software and technology company.  You may already be familiar with Aloqa’s popular Android application which helps people find places, events, bargains based on their proximity to the user.  It makes an out of towner feel like a local. Hence, “Aloqa“.

I see this as a good move for Motorola.  MOTOBLUR will benefit from the location-based technologies and attention to customer satisfaction.  Connecting users with geo-specific content in real time will go a long way in providing an awesome Android experience when it is built into the handset at ground level.  It will be interesting to see how this relationship develops as the Gingerbread release of Android comes out.  How

The timing of the news couldn’t be better for Aloqa as they just crossed 500,000 downloads on Android yesterday.  The  company also announced that they now have 1 million active users in their system.
