Are you among those who own an NVIDIA Shield? Awesome!  You’re gonna love the next bit of news. Those of you who don’t own one of these gaming and entertainment devices, however, are going to get a touch jealous.

The GameStream feature, which has been considered a beta component thus far, is now official. The timing couldn’t be better as key new PC games (Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, etc) are set to fill up the calendar this fall.

Also on the horizon is a new SHIELD Console Mode which allows for owners to turn the Shield into a gaming and entertainment console. Indeed, you can plug it into your television and then sit back with a Bluetooth controller and enjoy games, movies, web, and more.

Along with the release of GameStream comes expanded streaming support, including:

  • Super smooth and fast performance at 60 frames per second.
  • Enhanced Wi-Fi quality of service in combination with GameStream Ready routers from leading network partners ASUS, Buffalo, D-Link, and NETGEAR.
  • Improved onscreen navigation and controls.

NVIDIA GameStream is due to launch on Oct. 28.  Starting on that same day, NVIDIA will offer up to $100 off SHIELD plus free copies of “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag,” “Splinter Cell Blacklist” and “Batman: Arkham Origins” with the purchase of select GeForce GTX graphics cards.
