Oppo has made its intentions clear of dominating the mid-range market with its all metal F series and the strap-line #HelloMetal. The recently announced Oppo F1 is now available for preorders for $249. The beast packs an impressive 3 GB of RAM, octa-core processor and a 720p display.

While the phone’s USP is its metal body, it is certainly capable of giving tough competition to other devices in the $250 price range. As far as the specifications are concerned, the handset features a Snapdragon 616 CPU, HD display and 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and an 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture. The internal storage of the device is 16 GB but it can be enhanced using the microSD card slot up to 128 GB.

It houses a 2,500 mAh non-removable battery, which might be a bit disappointing for some. But then you can pick a power bank in case you are away from the charging port for a long time. Speaking of disappointments, the smartphone features a 720p display in a world obsessed with FHD and QHD resolution screens. But then you have to cut the cost somewhere, and as we all know making budget devices is all about smart compromises.

As for the design, the device is quite thin at 7.25 mm and is available in gold and white colors. It runs Oppo’s ColorOS 2.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. You can pre-order it from OppoStyle.
