It’s that time again! The Platform Versions chart has been updated, and the numbers look promising. As you can see, Froyo still holds a slight lead as the most used OS version, with Gingerbread coming in at a close second. Let’s break down the numbers, shall we?
Froyo remains in the lead with 45.3%, and Gingerbread has gained some since the last update, with 38.7%. Eclair (Android 2.1, for those of you who can’t remember back that far) continues its slow descent at 11.7%. Donut is next, with a measly 1.4%, and Cupcake rounds out the chart, coming in at just 1.1%. It’s worth noting that all three versions of Honeycomb (3.0, 3.1, and 3.2) only have a combined share of 1.8%, despite the multitude of Honeycomb tablets announced in the last month or so. It just goes to show how big the Android tablet market really is, I suppose.
