An official press image of the unannounced HTC EVO Design 4G arrived online earlier this week, giving us hope that Sprint could be close to announcing the handset. Known in other circles as the Hero S, Hero 4G, and Kingdom, the phone looks to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and feature a single-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon, 768MB of RAM, 4.0-inch qHD display, 5-megapixel camera, and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Considering the specs are a modest improvement upon last year’s EVO 4G, this could be a very affordable (sub-$100) successor to the carrier’s popular Android phone.

Look for an announcement to come out of Sprint before too long. The original EVO 4G is set to bid us farewell at the end of October so maybe we’ll see it soon.
