So you’ve probably heard over the last few weeks that Qik was going to be charging for some new, premium services now that the EVO 4G is out. Qik passed along a press release to us this morning, breaking down some of the differences between the free client and the version that runs five bucks a month. How would you like to learn a little about these features?I put together a bullet list that itemizes all the great services provided with Qik and put the premium stuff in bold.  Truth be told, I think $5 is a non-starter.  Even with that fee and the other EVO 4G plans we’re still better off than some AT&T customers.

Qik Features:

  • Unlimited Qik-to-Qik video chat
  • Unlimited Live streaming to the web
  • Unlimited Live sharing to Social Networks (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace)
  • Unlimited Live sharing to Video sites (e.g. YouTube, Livestream) and blogs (e.g. Blogger, WordPress, Tumblr, Posterous)
  • Unlimited Live sharing to IMs (COMING SOON)
  • Qik-in-Touch Desktop App
  • Video quality
    • Up to 640×480 (Standard)
    • Higher than 640×480 (Premium)
  • Video archiving
    • Unlimited (Premium)
  • Unlimited automatic downloads to computer (COMING SOON, Premium)
  • Snap photos while recording videos (COMING SOON, Premium)
  • Video access settings
    • Public, private (Standard)
    • Public, private, group (Premium)
  • Upload and share videos recorded with the native phone camera app (Premium)
  • Priority Support (Premium)

Keep in mind that all of these services are free until July 15th, giving you plenty of time to try them out.  Depending on your personal use case, $4.99 is really not that bad of a deal.  Most people spend that much on a coffee or two.
