If you recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, you also received a Samsung Gear VR. Normally the Gear VR is $99, but if you purchase the S7 or S7 Edge from 2/23/16 through 3/18/16, you get the Gear VR for free. However, after 3/18/16, you’ll need to buy the Gear VR separately.

So what do you get with the Gear VR? Immersive 3D images, games, and more. Samsung is offering movie experiences for people to explore:

  • The Hunger Games VR Experience: Walk through Panem and relive iconic scenes from all four HG movies, in 360 degrees.
  • The Martian VR Experience: Fly to the surface of Mars for a preview of the full VR release.

VR games include Land’s End, Eve’s Gunjack, Deer Hunter, DreadHalls and a ton of more fun stuff, like watching Netflix and Hulu in a virtual living room. If you bought one of the new Galaxy phones, and you’re still unsure about the Gear VR, I say BUY IT! Why not? It’s FREE, at least until 3/18/16.

  1. You might want to update those specs. The Note 4 only worked with the Gear VR Innovator Edition. It’s incompatible with the current hardware.
