Samsung may be releasing its next flagship during the week of August 15 according to Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks on Twitter. As with all rumors, take this with a grain of salt, but this is actually quite possible.
Last year’s Note 5 joined us on August 21st, 2015. This was quite surprising considering the Note 4 wasn’t available for pre-order until September 19th, 2014. This was possibly due to the fact that Apple had made a foray into the phablet market in September 2014 with the 6 Plus, and Samsung wanted to be a month ahead in 2015. This worked in its favor, as the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus busted into markets during September 2015. Other notable phablet releases that the Note 5 beat to the punch with the earlier release date include Moto X Pure Edition(announced July 2015, released September 2015), Huawei Nexus 6P(released September 2015), and the LG V10(released October 2015).

The Galaxy Note 5 beat some other notable phablets out of the gate including the Moto X Pure Edition(announced July 2015, released September 2015), Huawei Nexus 6P(released September 2015), and the LG V10(released October 2015).
We’ve heard wild guesses at specs for the Note 6 with some guessing that it will feature up to 6 GB of RAM or come with 64 GB of storage standard. Others suggest Samsung will go with a more measured route in line with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of onboard storage (expandable with microSD card), 3500 mAh battery and a 5.7″ Super AMOLED 2560 x 1440p display.
If these rumors pan out, the Note 6 could be an amazing phone. Samsung has definitely made its flagships even more desirable this year with the return of the microSD card and the updated Touchwiz Marshmallow UI. However, there’s no word on whether or not this phablet will be released in the US this year or what version of Android it is going to launch with. I guess all will be revealed in August.
