At CES 2011 Samsung Mobile announced 3 brand new 4G LTE devices.  All 3 new devices are the first of their kind.  These new 4G gadgets will all be available on the Verizon Wireless network.  LTE (long term evolution) is a standard in the wireless industry and Verizon has decided to launch their “4G” network utilizing this technology.  Verizon is touting up to 10x faster speeds than their current 3G service and plans to cover the same area using their fourth generation data network within 3 years.

The first device I want to mention is the new 4G LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab.  We’re talking about a 7″ TFT display utilizing a WSVGA (1024 x 600) and running Android 2.2 Froyo.  Boasting a 1.2ghz Hummingbird CPU, this thing should be snappy with any of the 100k+ applications available in the Android Market.

Also as part of the announcement is a new, unnamed, Samsung 4G LTE smartphone.  Galaxy S users, please skip to the next paragraph (yes Ray Walters, that means you) as this might be quite upsetting news.  This new phone is running Android 2.2 Froyo.  Yep, i said it. Froyo.  Don’t be mad at me.  Misdirected hostility never helped anyone guys!  It also boasts a 4.3″ screen with front (1.3 MP) and rear facing cameras (8 MP) and an LED flash. Using the LTE network will finally make live video streaming a reality on Verizon.  Like the new Galaxy Tablet mentioned above, users have access to Samsung’s Media Hub service which offers a robust collection of premium movies and TV episodes from some of the world’s biggest entertainment companies (available for purchase and rental).

Last on the list of new Samsung/Verizon 4G devices is a new mobile hotspot.  Verizon Wireless customers can expect download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G Mobile Broadband coverage areas.  The hotspot is also backwards compatible with their 3G network.  Allowing the connection of up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices, it’s perfect for family roadtrips.

This is all very exciting–fast and fun devices from Samsung made for Verizon’s 4G wireless network.  AndroidGuys is looking forward to getting some test units for review (hint hint @samsungmobile @verizonwireless).
