I don’t know how many times that I have had intense debates/arguments with friends and family over song lyrics.  Like many of you, I have the idiot savant ability to retain most of the song lyrics I have ever heard, and will fight to the death when someone questions my recall.  Probably the most debated case in point for my family is the “Lollipop Guild” song sang by the Munchkins in the Wizard of Oz.  I’m here to tell you, they are not singing “Lollipop Kids”, but “Lollipop Guild”.  And now, being an Android user, there is a tool to prove my case, along with many other lyrics in the form of the new Android App from TuneWiki.Announced via press release, TuneWiki has launched it’s “Social Media Player” on the Android platform, with a plethora of tools and features for music discovery and enjoyment.  Think Twitter and Facebook all tied together, with some heavy duty functionality geared just towards music and you have a concept of what TuneWiki is.

First and foremost, TuneWiki exists to sell music.  Flat out.  How they package music to consumers is where the service shines a bit.  TuneWiki allows you to discover music in some interesting ways.  First of course is through simple social interaction, you can see what people are playing and get samples of those tunes, but you can also find out what people are listening to geographically which is pretty interesting indeed.  It is cool to know what the local flavor of music is around you.

Another interesting feature is the TuneWiki “Muse”.  You can make people in your social net on the service a Muse, which tells the service that they “inspire” your music listening, which then targets you with the music that person is most into.

A feature that is pretty prevalent is the ability to scan your music library, see which albums you own, then offer to complete those albums for a fee if you are missing some tracks.

The app is available for download on the Android Market, you can use our handy-dandy download block below to get it on your Android device!
