Janus Friis, one of the co-founders of Skype, is backing a new messaging app that promises “simple, beautiful conversions on your desktop”. Wire, which released today for download, is trying to snag some of the overcrowded messaging market by trying to lure users with its elegant interface, enhanced HD voice calling features, and its ability to be on your phone, tablet and desktop. While Wire is indeed very visually pleasing, it does not appear to offer anything groundbreaking. Though as the old adage goes, “don’t fix what is not broken”, there is no reason you should not give Wire a try.

Wire is free to download beginning today and you can do so using the widget below. You can also visit their website for more information using the link provided.
