Sony dove into the mid range phone market with the Xperia M2 Aqua. The M2 Aqua offers up mid range specs with premium features like Sony’s OmniBalance, waterproofing at IP65/68 and Xperia camera apps.

The spec list for the M2 Aqua is not overwhelming, but this is a midrange phone. The Xperia M2 Aqua features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with  quad-core 1.2 GHz CPUs, Adreno 305 GPU, 1 GB RAM, up to 8GB internal memory with expandable storage up to 32GB microSD card.

This all runs on Android 4.4 and powered by a 2330 mAh battery. Also included is NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and LTE. All in a 4.8″ (540×960) HD display with a 230 PPI. Sony has included a 8MP back shooter with 1080p recording and a disappointing 1.1MP front camera with VGA video.

A price is not yet announced, but the Xperia M2 Aqua is still an impressive device regardless. Price it right, and Sony might find the M2 Aqua selling as well as the Moto G in the right markets. The Xperia M2 Aqua is scheduled to hit the markets starting Autumn 2014 in Latin America, Asia, Pacific and Europe.
