Sprint tossed their hat into the music delivery service ring today with the announcement of their new Sprint Music Plus. Powered by RealNetworks, the official music store and player from Sprint provides users with ringtones, ringback tones, and full DRM-free music tracks. Should you love a song so much that you want to buy all three, Sprint will sell you a discounted bundle. Singles range from as low as 69¢ and cap out at $1.29 each. And since we’re dealing with a wireless carrier, customers will not be immediately charged for the music, deferring it to their monthly bill instead.
The music player itself is not flashy or glitzy but it provides the ability to create playlists, search for music, sample tones and music, and receive personalized recommendations. After playing with it for a few minutes, it’s considerably nicer looking than the stock 2.2 player although it feels like a watered down version of the HTC player.
