Sprint on Tuesday announced a new promotional campaign which puts Verizon and AT&T squarely in its cross-hairs. Starting on December 5, the Half Price Event is expected to give customers of the two larger carriers a rate plan that is half of what they’re currently paying.

An AT&T customer, for example, who pays $300/month will be offered a comparable Sprint option that runs $150 per month. A Verizon customer paying $140 per month for 4 lines + 10GB of data can get 4 lines + 10GB of data on Sprint for $70 per month. The best part, according to Sprint, is that this will be the customer’s costs going forward.

“The Cut Your Bill in Half Event clearly demonstrates that Sprint delivers the best value in wireless,” said Marcelo Claure, CEO, Sprint. “It’s as simple as this: Bring Sprint your Verizon or AT&T bill along with your phone and we’ll cut your rate plan in half. That’s a 50 percent savings on your rate plan every month.”

Sprint will waive activation fees and cover any early termination fees for those who switch; customers will need to turn in their old devices. In order to qualify for the half-price plan, new customers must buy a device from Sprint on either the Easy Pay financing option or pay for the phone outright.

Registration must be completed before March 15, 2015.

  1. What’s the point if you can’t use your phone? Where I live the data speed and connection quality of sprint is laughable. My brother switched once and then paid all the fees to get off just to go back to ATT.
