T-Mobile’s latest secret project, code named “Houdini” may provide some serious peace of mind for those considering switching carriers. More specifically, families with up to five lines stand to benefit from the little agenda.
Reportedly, the initiative includes instant discounts for trading in your smartphone from another carrier. Should you have termination fees for some or all of your lines, T-Mobile will also issue credits once you send them a copy of your final bill.
Here’s what a TmoNews source has to say:
…teasing a project code named “houdini” which will give switchers up to $350 in credit when they switch to TMO… Emphasis will be on families switching up to 5 lines regardless of contract end dates…
New customers will receive instant credit when they trade in a smartphone, then get a credit for the ETF charged by their old carrier when they submit the final bill to TMO.
T-Mobile is expected to roll out its 4th Uncarrier announcement in the next few weeks; CEO John Leger promises to “eliminate a pain point” for customers. If you’ve ever been sacked with one of these fees then you know darn well how much of a pain it is. Multiply that by additional family members and you can see the allure of such a project.
We don’t need to tell you, of course, that all of this is unconfirmed stuff and that T-Mobile has not made any official noise in this area. With that said, we’re going to find out soon enough as to what Uncarrier 4.0 is about.
