The head honcho of Acer’s smartphone division, Aymer De Lencquesaing, is doing his part to be coy regarding if and when an Android-based phone might be coming.
In London today to pimp their smartphones, De Lenquesaing mentioned that two more phones were scheduled for Q4 ’09.  When he was asked whether or not the new models would have an OS different from Windows Mobile, he stated, “there is this possibility, yes.â€
So let’s see, it can’t be iPhone and it’s not going to be BlackBerry. That leaves Android and Symbian, neither of which Acer is officially associated with. Although they are not a member of the Open Handset Alliance, Acer is definitely capable of putting Android onto their handsets.
What do you guys think of an Acer smartphone running Android? Does it intrigue you at all?
Does it have a 5 row physical keyboard and a dpad?
If yes, then great!
If no, then who cares? :-)
