Verizon has issued a press release officially confirming what was leaked earlier this month. The Motorola Citrus handset announced in October will go on sale tomorrow, November 11th. The smart phone has a very attractive $49.99 price tag (after $100 mail-in rebate) for customers signing a new, two-year service agreement.
The touch only phone runs Android 2.1 and features a 528MHz processor, a 3.0-in. QVGA touch screen, and a 3-megapixel camera.. Other details include up to 100MB memory on board, a 2 GB microSD pre-installed, support for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and more. If you know someone looking to make a jump from feature phone to smart phone, we recommend the Citrus as a good place to start.

The the smart phone is taking over. Eventually dumb phones will be a thing of the past. This simple little Android phone is perfect for some to get acquainted with a Android and a smart phone in general. But eventually they’ll want more…
This is the crippled little feature cell phone that could (not) do a bunch of the shit Android was intended to do. I’ve been developing for it and the QVGA form factor results in a really awful, hobbled, stuttering user experience. Pls pls pls get an HTC instead.
Rather, get ANYTHING instead. Just don’t settle with 240×320 without realize what you’re limiting yourself to.
