Verizon to give 4G smartphone users double data for the normal data price

Are you on Verizon with a 4G device, and find yourself torqued about the amount of data you get for the price? Well, Verizon has decided that, for eligible 4G smartphone-toting users, the price should remain, but the data should double. Starting Tuesday, any customer with a 4G smartphone will become able to get twice the data for the same price as others pay for the normal amount. Subscribe to 2GB / month for $30? If you’ve got a 4G smartphone, you’ll start getting 4GB. $50 also gets you 10GB instead of 5GB, and – you guessed it – $80 gets you 20GB over the previous 10GB.

Clearly, this promotion is to tie in with the launch of the Motorola DROID RAZR on 11/11/11. This promotion, however, won’t last long, so Verizon 4G users are encouraged to request it through Verizon. That’s right, you’ll have to request it… it’s not automatic.

The question remains… will this upset 3G users that they don’t get the same data amount because they don’t get the same speeds? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
