After debuting on iPhone back in the fall, VLC, the immensely popular open-source video player looks to be headed to Android soon. Just how soon is not 100-percent definite, but the team tells GigaOM that pieces are coming together and that it should be only a “matter of weeks”. The project, which can be tracked here, got underway a few months back but really took off with the release of a new NDK from Google. Although most of the VLC libraries have been ported to Android, the developers caution that it may not play nice with all Android handsets.
