Vodafone Hinting at More Android, Less Google

magic_g1In an interview with TechRadar, Vodafone suggests that future Android-based handsets are being evaluated and that some could come loaded with less Google and more Vodafone.

“We’re looking at other Android devices, by joining the Open Handset Alliance it shows our commitment [to ranging other devices using Android].” – Rachel Williams, Vodafone

With no specifics to offer just yet, they indicated that they’d consider dropping some of the Google apps that come preloaded in favor of some from a “basic package” that would allow Vodafone to load their own software instead.

What do you guys think?  Would it be a good move or a bad one to take the Google stuff off up front?  Do you want your phone branded around you carrier or should they just be dumb pipes?
