Rafe Needleman of cnet/Buzz Out Loud fame has put together a little head-to-head comparison for phones that run Google Voice. Guess who came out on top?
To be fair, there are really only two platforms that have official Google Voice apps – BlackBerry and Android. Having said that, he still has good things to say about how well the app integrates with Android.Â
What I really like, though, is an optional feature that makes the app ask you, when you’re making a call, whether you want to place the call from your mobile phone’s number or from Google Voice… That’s handy.
BlackBerry come in a close second with their version and Rafe also mentions a few 3rd party apps available for other platforms. As for the iPhone? It comes as no surprise that he’s not a fan of having to use the mobile Google Voice site.
It’s quite pathetic. It’s ugly and slow, and when you want to play your voicemails, the Web browser gives way to your phone’s media player, which is a disruptive interface switch (and it didn’t always work in my testing).
