A new phone is on the market that is a little different from what we’re used to seeing; YotaPhone today announced their second generation YotaPhone 2, a smartphone that couples a traditional display with an e-ink display on the rear.

The idea of the e-ink display is to help access and consume content whilst preserving battery life, leaving the standard full display for anything else. The e-ink display can be used to check the weather, read text messages, and read e-books.

With a 4.7-inch display, the YotaPhone 2 boasts 48 hours of reading time, powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm 800 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The Yotaphone 2 goes on sale in Russia and the UK this week for around $870, and may launch later next year to the US according to the manufacturer.
