While most of us here in the US were celebrating the 4th of July, the world kept rolling in other regions. Oukitel, a company based in China, made a surprising announcement for the Oukitel K8.
The company finally announced the specs for its upcoming handset, along with a teaser image. As expected we will see a build that falls in line with the recent trend of bezel-less handsets.
Oukitel K8 Spec Breakdown
The K8 will sport a 6-inch FHD+ display, with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Powering the handset is the MediaTek M6750T, combined with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.
In the camera department, we have a rather basic 5MP selfie camera. On the rear, Oukitel has included a dual-camera system with a primary 13MP sensor and a secondary 2MP lens.
These rear-cameras are vertically oriented with the fingerprint scanner placed below. To the right of the camera module, Oukitel has included an LED flash to help get the perfect picture.
Other specs for the Oukitel K8 include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and Android 8.0 Oreo on-board. Finally, the K8 will include an enormous 5,000mAh battery which will surely last you all day.
As you can see in the video above, the K8 features rounded edges, which aim to improve ergonomics. There is also a layer of oleophobic coating which will help protect your device while keeping it in your hands.
A new “UV celluloid” cover has been added to the back to give the K8 a metallic texture. Meanwhile, all of this is combined to make for a rather impressive handset.
Pricing and availability
Unfortunately, Oukitel stopped short of revealing how much the K8 will cost. Instead, the company claims that this is likely to be competitively priced.
We are also expecting to see the official launch of the K8 sometime at the “end of July”. This is just another great budget option to choose from if you need a new device.
