One of the best things about the recent generation of smartphones is the 18:9 aspect ratio for displays. Not only are bezels getting thinner all the time, but the screens are now stretched ever so slightly more, too. This leads to a user experience that feels great when using one hand.
If the 18:9 ratio was popular for 2017, the next year could go even thinner. Reportedly, Oukitel’s next phone, the U18, will feature a screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Yes, that’s an even longer looking display for your web browsing, email, messaging, and more.
With a design that looks and feels like Apple’s iPhone X, the Oukitel U18 figures to offer a 5.85-inch HD+ display with a 1512 x 720 pixel resolution. While this would put it on the lower end of the spectrum, it’s still an HD screen. Oh, and it looks like that silly little notch is present, too.
Other specifications that are surfacing for the handset include 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It wasn’t long ago that this would have been upper tier stuff, but as we’re seeing now, it’s more of a mid-range experience. Nevertheless, the specs still stand up for most users and should be plenty for games, messaging, social media, and tasks.
There’s no official launch date set yet for the Oukitel U18 but we’re told it will start production by the end of this month. Look for more details to bubble up in the coming days. In the meanwhile, stick with us or head to Oukitel’s website and Facebook page for more information.
