WP5000 – Big Battery, IP68-Rated

If you’re a long-time smartphone owner, you’ve probably suffered a screen break or water damage at some point. And while we’re seeing more flagships these days launch with water resistance and damage resistant screens, most aren’t as rugged as life demands. OUKITEL is one of the few OEMs around that knows what life throws at us as smartphone users, and actively makes phones to survive unscathed. Specifically, the new WP5000; a “tri-proof” phone featuring IP68-rated dust, water and shock proofing.

This is the second of such phones from OUKITEL, the first being the K10000 MAX – which, while being more known for its 10,000mAh battery, also features a truly rugged design. While the WP5000 won’t feature quite as large a battery – “just” 5,000mAh – it’s every bit as rugged as its cousin. As you can see in the video above, OUKITEL put the WP5000 through a variety of environmental tests. These tests include soaking in boiling water for 5 minutes and being buried in a icy slurry.

The WP5000 takes it all and keeps on going. In addition to the big battery and rugged design, the phone also features a 5.7″, 18:9 display, MediaTek Helio P25 processor, and 6/64GB RAM/ROM.
