Having picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 tablet, I was in desperate need of a case, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to review the Drop Tech Hideaway case from Gumdrop – the ultimate ruggedized protective case for the Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4.
The case is made of a silicon exterior which is reinforced with a polycarbonate interior skeleton for added protection. Looks wise, you can see the Gumdrop case means business and instantly are reassured that your nice expensive tablet will be protected from any bangs or scraps.
The case retains easy access to the necessary ports – USB Charging, volume up/down, AUX, all of which are protected by a cover making the case dirt, dust, and to an extent, waster protected.
Of most significance when it comes to the Gumdrop case is the kickstand that is integrated into the rear of the case, which offers up a 21-degree and 60-degree viewing angle for your tablet.
The kickstand folds securely into the case, sitting flush in the rear of the case as to not protrude when not in use, allowing the tablet to still sit flat on a table if needed. When you want to prop your tablet up, simply pop out the kickstand and your tablet will now sit comfortably at a viewing angle to easily watch movies.
The case does put a few millimetres onto the thickness of the device but the protection you get in exchange is ample. Getting your Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 into the Gumdrop case is quite difficult to say the least; the fit is very snug, but that’s what you want in a case to entrust your device.
Overall the Gumtree Drop Tech Hideaway case offers great protection for your Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 at the cost of the lightweight and minimal thickness profile of the device itself. Whilst I am one that likes a thin device, it is reassuring knowing that the case will protect you from the events that carrying a tablet in life inevitably brings.
