The OXA Bluetooth Speaker is available now to purchase for $39.99 through Amazon, but is it worth the price? I’ve been using this speaker for a few days now, and I am happy to announce that this little cube of a speaker will be a great Bluetooth companion for all your portable music needs.

I’ve been reviewing this stereo speaker as well as it’s little brother the OXA Mini Bluetooth Speaker at the same time, and while the mini speaker is a great product, it’s always refreshing to hear this bigger speaker’s slightly higher volume and the bit of bass that comes with it.

The volume on this speaker isn’t overwhelming at all, but hits a cap that I’m completely fine with that sounds great indoors, but outdoors it could be a little bit louder, even with my phone’s volume turned up all the way.

The cube-shaped speaker puts out music on three sides of it; the top, right and left side, giving some dimension to the music you’re listening to rather than coming out in one direction. The actual sound quality was for the most part really good, but it depends on what kind of music you’re listening to, really. I tried a variety of sorts, including some of my favorite dubstep music from Mayhem, which was okay considering the bass can only be so good on a speaker that size, but really this kind of music should hardly be played on a portable speaker like this. But when I listened to some more vocal music, including Passenger’s Let Her Go and some James Cavern, I really enjoyed how crisp the vocals and guitar sounded. I also tried some Parov Stelar, which contains Electronic and Big Band, and that sounded surprisingly good.  Honestly, If I had any complaint, it was just the volume, as it could have been a bit louder.

The speaker has a front-facing black screen, which is touch controlled on the button part where play/pause buttons and next/previous buttons are. We also have a mode button which let’s us switch from Bluetooth to radio mode if you want to enjoy some good AM/FM tunes. On the top of the device is an aux port, micro SD slot, charging port, USB port and power button.

Bluetooth capabilities were spot-on, as my Nexus 4 easily recognized the speaker and I was able to play whatever very easily.

This speaker is nothing that can replace a real external speaker setup or a home theater, as it is meant to be taken on the go or a simple placement in a room indoors. Anybody looking to use this as a travel speaker will be pleased with the audio quality and slight bass, but perhaps should bring another battery or have access to an outlet because of the less than 2 hour battery life.
