I love casual gaming.  Be it games like Tetris, Bejeweled or Bubbles, I have always loved to pick up my phone and spend a few minutes working my brain. In my opinion, the best games on mobile handsets are the kind where you find yourself always trying to one-up your score.  One such game I’ve come across these last few weeks is Wixel.
The game is intuitive and users ought to be able to pick it up in minutes. You’re given a 4×4 or 5×5 grid of letters and you need to make as many words as possible in the time allowed. Words with 3 letters or more are worth points. The more letters used to make a word, the higher your score.
One thing I liked was being shown the words I might have missed. It’s one thing to be told what the highest possible score is, it’s another to learn new words.
There are three options for input:
- Drag your finger from letter to letter
- Tap each individually touch “Enter” button
- Use keyboard
If your a fan of games like Boggle, Scrabble, and Bananagrams, you’ll love Wixel.  The replay value is very high and the online gaming is sure to bring added benefit. It’s pretty easy to cut corners with games like this since there is no real need for too much graphic detail. I was immediately impressed with Wixeland the nice finished look it had. The warm graphics made this one inviting.
Even with the undercooked G1 specs, this game performs very well and takes up little space.  As kilobytes and megabytes are something to hold near and dear, I was pleased to see that this app only takes up a tad over 1MB.
You can find lite and full versions of Wixel in the Android Market. Both provide full unlimited game play, but the $1.99 gets you the online gaming capability.
Great game, just wish you could find active players under 'Random Player Search'
Active player, if anyone wants a game: escortcab
