If you’ve ever wondered what “Avoid – Sensory Overload” would look like in 2D, 48H Studio has presented you with the answer: “Avoid ZX”. This vibrant game is sure to please any retro gaming fans with its graphics and 1-bit soundtrack. The controls are simple, tap on either side of the screen to move in that direction. While this may sound like a tiresome gameplay mechanic, the game actually gets quite difficult very quickly. With continuously increasing speeds and a couple of different obstacles and power ups, the gameplay can be quite consuming. Beating your own highscore is very satisfying.
When push comes to shove though, there’s very little to the game. The retro graphics are a bit overly simplistic and the lack of almost any options or gameplay modes leads the player to become uninterested quickly. In all honesty, were this game free it would be completely acceptable, but it costs $1.11 and for the small amount of entertainment that can be gained from this game, it is not yet worth the money in my opinion. The potential of a polished game such as this however is very high, and should more game modes be introduced, or more variety added to the current gameplay, the game’s value would skyrocket and it could become an instant hit.
