If you happen to be amongst the more privileged of us and have time to spare, you probably enjoy a decent game that takes time and patience to play. Or you may enjoy short periods of gameplay. ‘The Machine’ is a great game that you could either spend 5 minutes or spend several hours on. It’s available for free in the Play Store.
Due to the nature of the game, there was no setup. I went straight into gameplay. However, the first level was extremely easy and there was a small tutorial explaining the bare basics, but that’s all you really need to know. You can of course adjust the volume and connect to Google Play Games in the settings.
While it’s nothing unique or really new, it does seem that the developer, Farstall Games, has brought a new kind of game style to Android. You are a drop/tear that has to find its way through the maze of spinning saws, spikes, heights and some things from levels that I haven’t even reached yet. While it may not sound like the most entertaining of games, it had me constantly pulling out my phone to play it. Unlike many new Android games, it comes packed with many different levels from several worlds including “Arcade” and “Blueprint”. Adverts did not interrupt gameplay and only appeared sometimes when I wasn’t actually playing. I could play smoothly thanks to the fact that there was absolutely no lag. There are also challenges and achievements to complete along the way.
Is it for me?
Even if you aren’t a keen gamer, it’s likely you will still enjoy it. It’s suitable for all ages thanks to the easy game mechanics, although it is likely that some will experience difficulty in the later levels.
What we liked:
- Original gameplay
- Little hassle and interruptions (I’m looking at you, adverts and lag)
- Many levels
And not so much…
- Monochromatic colour schemes
With great gameplay, ‘The Machine’ is definitely a reasonable choice to pass time, be it several hours or 5 minutes. Addictive gameplay, achievements and different unlockable worlds are guaranteed to have you coming back for more!
