If you haven’t heard of Classic Notes by Fluffy Delusions, you’re definitely missing out. Classic Notes is the most functional, usable, versatile app I’ve ever come across, and that’s saying something. It allows the user to take notes and make to-do lists, as well as a host of other things.

- Ohm’s Law, for converting voltage, currents, and resistance
- Postal code lookup
- Question and answer

- Wikipedia lookup
- Word of the day
- Words that rhyme with _____
- And much more
Now, if you’re looking for a snazzy app that has a lot of colors, animations, and account syncing, you’re in the wrong place. But Classic Notes provides a simple, clean interface that’s fairly easy to use, and just looks nice.
While no cloud syncing exists as of yet, there is an option to backup a note or to-do list to your SD card, so not all is lost in the world of data management. Obviously, this means you can load notes from your SD card into the app to view and edit them to your heart’s content. As for the general settings, users can change fonts, as well as font size, currency preferences, choose from U.S. or Metric measuring systems, and select their city for weather purposes.
How usable is the app? In my experience, Classic Notes is amazingly simple and easy to navigate. Once my mind was blown by all the extras within the app, I got down into the main purpose of the app: to take notes and create to-do lists. It exceeds at doing this, with a spell check feature, the ability to create events in Google Calendar, privacy settings, as well as the ability to attach a file. The file choices range from images to videos, and even to-do lists created within the app. Geotagging, QR code scanning, and Google Translate are just some of the added features that can be accessed when creating a note.
Users can share a note via Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Gmail, and more. There’s also a search feature built in, for users that have numerous notes and to-do lists. As if that wasn’t enough, the developers have added the ability to add a shortcut to a note or to-do list right to the homescreen, so you’ll always have that grocery list handy.
Classic Notes is by no means the most pretty note-taking app out there. But it gets the job done, and has more extras than I’ve ever seen in an app. It doesn’t suffer from any bugs that I could produce, which is surprising with so many features and extensions. If you’re looking for an Android app to help you stay organized an on track, I highly encourage you to check out Classic Notes for yourself. It’s a very handy tool to have in nearly any situation that requires some ingenuity.

Due to a DMCA complaint from Apple about my icon/font (apparently it looked to similar to the iOS notes app) Google took down Classic Notes. I’ve since changed the icon/font as per Google’s recommendation and have re-uploaded the app though I’ve lost all rating/users/reviews (6 million + downloads since 2011). If you need to transfer over from old version to new just do this in old version menu>backup(auto) then in new version select restore(auto).
