There comes a time in every smartphone owner’s life, where you search something that you don’t necessarily want to keep on your phone. If you want to quickly delete your search history in the Google Search app or clear it from your browsing history, we’ve got you covered.

KEEP IN MIND: Not all Android phones are the same. Some will have more steps required to complete each task, others will have less. At AndroidGuys, we will do our best to walk you through each task as well as we can.

Clear a term from the Google Search app

Clear 1

To clear a term from the Google Search app, simply click on the big Google Search bar on the top of your home screen. You’ll see a big list of all of your recently searched terms. Long-press the term you’d like to remove, and select “OK” when prompted. The term should now be removed from your recently searched list.

Clear a term from your Google Search history

clear 2Here’s an easy way to remove a search from your history for good. First, navigate to your Chrome browser. Click the menu button (three vertical dots) on the top-right of the browser, and select History. Once there, you should see a list of your recently searched terms. Find the one you’d like to delete, and click the “X” next to it. There you have it! That should delete the single search from your history.

Clear multiple terms from your Google Search history

clear 3The above methods work well if you want to clear one recent search, but what about multiple searches? This method will clear your entire search history in Chrome. Head to your Chrome browser, select the menu button (three vertical dots), and select History. Towards the bottom of your screen should read Clear Browsing Data. Click that, and a menu should pop up. To clear your history, make sure the top option is checked. All of the other options aren’t necessary to clear your browsing data. Select “clear”, and that’s it!

  1. I did exactly what you suggested to clear the history and nothing happened. All of the contents are still there. God, but I hate androids. They are the most unreliable phone I have had. In less than six months two of the phones malfunctioned and had to be replaced. Now the third phone is unable to clear its history. I would love to take a sledge hammer to this damned phone!!!!!!!
