I’m an icon addict to the point of where I really need some serious intervention. But don’t call anyone quite yet, just let me present to you what I want to show off today, then decide if you want to make that call. That’s right, I’m going to show you some of the newest, hottest, most amazing icon packs in the Google Play Store today that you need to have installed on your mobile device. You can check out some of our older posts on this same subject here: Android Icons You Must Have.

The good thing about the icon packs that I’m going to show you today is that they are so very simple to install and easy to set on your device. And when you do get them set on your device, they will theme your homescreen icons as well as all of your icons in your app drawer. That way everything looks nice, neat and uniform. Now, let’s get started with the first icon pack of several for the day.

KooGoo by DJSkarpia

KooGoo Release Image

I’m a sucker for round icons and I think Andrea Corvi knows this because he’s been doing a lot of them for some time now. He has become skilled at getting me to spend my hard earned money. KooGoo is a nicely done icon pack that is simple and clean, yet has enough detail that each icon stands out as being quite unique. For $1.89 you get over 1,700 icons, 16 docks for Nova Launcher, 88 wallpapers and the app even has Muzei support which is something I really enjoy. These icons are updated very frequently and will continue to be done so for quite some time.

Neon Glow by Samer Zayer

Neon Glow Release Image

Neon Glow by Samer Zayer is something a bit different than what we’ve been seeing here as of late. It’s not a long shadow icon set and this is really nice to see Samer go and produce something really different. Neon Glow is just that, an icon that looks like those neon signs you see in your favorite bar or restaurant. Dark backgrounds with very vivid and bright colors.

Priced at only $1.49, Neon Glow gives you 1,100+ icons, all sorts of wallpapers via the cloud, several docks for use within Nova Docks and Muzei support. Well worth much more than the asking price and you also get some amazing icons along the way.

Nimbus by Pure Designs

Nimbus Release Image

Nimbus by Pure Designs is yet another square icon set with rounded corners similar to Neon Glow above. The big difference is that Nimbus has more of a 3D look to it, as well as shadow/crease that runs vertically through the center of the icon, making it appear slightly folded. There are a lot of custom made icons in this pack. Ones that will make your normal icons look considerably different. Such as your phone/dialer icon and many others.

You can pick up a copy of Nimbus for $1.99 in the Play Store, and you will get 1,000+ icons and 8 HD wallpapers in the pack. To me personally, just the wallpapers are worth the $1.99 so you’re definitely not going wrong by picking up this pack.

Nuggets by MindPlay Media

Nuggets Release Image

Nuggets is an icon pack that isn’t actually even released yet, however, it’s definitely something I felt I needed to mention. Travis Hall and Matthew Fidoe have been working on Nuggets for a while now but I can tell you, it’s certainly worth the wait. Nuggets is a flat icon unlike Nimbus above. It’s got the rounded corners and such as you’ve seen in all the icons I’ve shown today. Big difference in these is, every icon is considerably different than the stock like icons you normally see. M2 Productions as they call themselves, are putting a lot of work and detail into these icons and they will certainly be worth it once they go live.

Until then, you can always hit up Travis or Matthew on Google+ by clicking their names above, and they might can invite you to the beta testing community they have. Just tell them that Cliff sent you and maybe you’ll get invited. We will however let you know when these icons go live in the Play Store so that you can grab them and install them on all of your devices.

Pulse by StealthyChief

Pulse Release Image

Next up on the list is Pulse by StealthyChief(aka Will Windham) and I know what you’re saying right off the rip is that these are very identical to Neon Glow above. Well, you’re actually wrong, because if you take a close look, you will see considerable differences in the two packs.

The big difference between Pulse and Neon Glow are the actual colors and how they are used. Pulse is representing a pulsing light so to speak and with that comes a larger reflection of the light from the icon onto the background. But Pulse also isn’t about the “neon” effect. It’s just a bright light source making the icons stand out on a dark background. Also with Pulse, if you look at the bottom of each icon, you will see a bevel there, where as Neon Glow has it on the top.

Pulse will only set you back $1.99 and with it you will get over 1,500 icons, 10 HD wallpapers, Muzei support as well as updates to the icon pack every Friday. Just click the widget below to pick up your copy from the Play Store and I guarantee you, you’ll be happy when you do.

Reflected by Lobbs611

Reflected Release Image

Up next on the must have list is Reflect’d by Lobbs Design(aka Kyle Laubscher) who has been doing icons for quite some time, however, this is a bit different than his normal stuff, which usually consists of a chromed metal style look. Reflect’d is a nice change of pace for Kyle and he’s done exceptionally well on these.

The app icons are a basic white icon with colored backgrounds. As you can see though, there’s a bit more to the colored background. It’s the fact that they have a reflection of the app icon within the color, which is where they get their name of course.

For only $1 you can have 1,200+ Reflect’d icons as well as a few wallpapers that comes with the pack. So if you’re into the simple, clean, non-flashy looking icons, Reflect’d is probably for you and you grab it by hitting the widget below.

Sticko by GSeth

Sticko by GSeth(aka Gaurav Seth) is something completely different from all the other icon packs I’m showing off today. Yes, they represent stickers and they do that very well. Sticko was an icon pack that was long in the making as there was a bit of work to do. Unlike most icon packs, Sticko doesn’t use the usual icon mask or icon back features. These were all done custom, one by one.

Sticko includes 2,240+ icons, 62 cloud based HD wallpapers and an icon request tool for any icons you might find on your device(s) that aren’t themed. Plus, there is also a matching Sticko Zooper Widget for free you can download separately.

YAFI by Yackovsky

YAFI Release Image

YAFI, or Yet Another Flat Icons, is a set by Yackovsky(aka Jacek Malinowski) and in a way they are just that, another set of flat icons that we’ve been seeing for quite some time now. However,  don’t let the name or that statement fool you, because they aren’t like all others. A lot of custom work has gone into YAFI as far as the actual app icon work, plus all the coloring of each icon too.

You can pick up YAFI from the Play Store for about $2.49 and with it you’ll get 1,000+ icons with a resolution of 192 x 192 each, 2 exclusive wallpapers that Jacek made, as well as 24 white dock icons and a matching analog clock widget to go with it. One hell of a great deal for some amazing work that Jacek puts together in all of his icon packs.

Final Thoughts

Please note that these are some of my favorite icon packs currently and ones that I suggest everyone take a close look at. One thing I do ask is that if you purchase any or all of these from the Play Store, please make sure to leave a few words of encouragement for the developer praising them on their hard work that they have put into making these icons and making our mobile devices so amazing looking.

Also don’t forget to leave a 5-star rating. There’s really no reason why you shouldn’t as they all certainly deserve it. If you have any issues, please hit the Email Developer button near the bottom of the Play Store listing and I can almost guarantee you that you’ll get a response from the developer and they will help you in any way they possibly can as they want to earn that 5-star rating from you.

This is something that’s very important and it only encourages them to continue doing what they are doing to make our devices that much more awesome in the near future.

Let us know in the comments what you think of any or all of these icons and if you have some you’d like for us to showcase, let us know that too and we will certainly take a look at them.
