T-Mobile Announces $199 myTouch 4G Slide for July
The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide has officially gone from rumored to confirmed, thanks to a late night press announcement. If there’s one thing that this $199.99 handset ($50 mail-in-rebate) has, it’s a top of the line camera. Or at least that is how T-Mobile will be positioning the device. The press release is laden with details and features of the 8-megapixel shooter, even going so far as to call it a “true camera and camcorder replacement.”
In addition to having a killer camera, hardware enthusiasts will also enjoy the myTouch 4G Slide’s 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3.7-inch WVGA super LCD touch-screen display, sliding QWERTY keyboard, and 4G support.
On the software front, the myTouch 4G Slide features a number of notable apps, including T-Mobile Video Chat (Qik), Group Text (Bobsled), and advanced Genius Button (Dragon Dictation, Nuance) , T-Mobile TV, Netflix and YouTube.
Although T-Mobile tapped the myTouch 4G Slide with a July launch, the carrier is reluctant to pin a hard date down. In the meanwhile, you have a tough choice on your hands, do you want black or khaki?
In addition to the new phone announcement, T-Mobile is also rolling out 4G to 7 new markets – Barnstable, Mass.; Chico, Calif.; Lancaster, Penn.; Ogden, Utah; Redding, Calif.; Vineland, N.J., and Winchester, Va.
