T-Mobile confirmed the myTouch 4G Slide for July at $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The device was positioned heavily around its camera, which T-Mobile called a “true camera and camcorder replacement.”
The myTouch 4G Slide was manufactured by HTC exclusively for T-Mobile and featured an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, backside illuminated sensor, wide aperture f/2.2 lens, and zero shutter lag. Additional camera modes included SweepShot for panoramic photos, ClearShot HDR for high-contrast scenes, and BurstShot for rapid sequential captures. The front HD 1080p camcorder supported direct video editing on-device.
On the hardware side: a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA Super LCD display, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, and 4G support. Software ran Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.0. Notable apps included T-Mobile Video Chat via Qik, Group Text by Bobsled, Genius Button via Dragon Dictation, T-Mobile TV, Netflix, YouTube, and T-Mobile KidZone for parental app restrictions. Available in black and khaki.
T-Mobile also announced 4G expansion to seven new markets: Barnstable, MA; Chico, CA; Lancaster, PA; Ogden, UT; Redding, CA; Vineland, NJ; and Winchester, VA.
