AT&T announced the Huawei Impulse 4G for September 18th at $29.99 with a two-year contract, their first smartphone from Huawei. It ran Android 2.2 Froyo and featured a 3.8-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 720p HD video, Wi-Fi with AT&T hotspot access, GPS navigation, and HSPA+ connectivity. For $30 and a two-year commitment, the value proposition for first-time smartphone users was hard to argue with.
