U.S. Cellular became the latest carrier to announce the Samsung Galaxy S II, without a specific launch date but with full specs and pricing confirmed. The U.S. Cellular version featured a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos C210 processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 16GB internal storage with microSD support to 32GB, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and Swype. It ran on U.S. Cellular’s 3G network rather than LTE.
Pricing was $229.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Customers trading in an existing smartphone could qualify for up to $150 in credit through U.S. Cellular’s Trade-In Program, reducing the effective cost considerably.
