Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Note II at IFA in Berlin. Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it featured a 5.5-inch 1280×720 Super AMOLED display, a quad-core 1.6GHz Exynos processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front camera, and a 3100mAh battery. Available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations in Mountain White and Titanium Grey.
The S Pen received a new, longer and thicker design said to be more ergonomic. Key new features included Air View (hover the S Pen over emails, images, or calendar items to preview without opening), Popup Notes (a floating note overlay on top of any app), Quick Command (a gesture-triggered menu of shortcuts for calls, emails, and searches), and a Screen Recorder for capturing and sharing on-screen activity.
European availability was set for October. Samsung confirmed a US version was planned for later in 2012, with specific carrier timing and pricing not announced.
