Sprint made their official announcement regarding the HTC Hero: available October 11th, priced at $179.99 after a $50 instant savings, a $100 mail-in rebate, and a two-year service agreement on their Simply Everything plan.
A few notable items from the press release:
- Pandora was launching on Android devices and would be available on the HTC Hero from Sprint at launch.
- The Hero can be silenced by simply turning it face down.
- Includes Sprint TV, NFL Mobile Live, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile.
- HTC confirmed Flash support is included.
- HTC Scenes allows users to create different home screen layouts for various situations such as work, home, and travel.
It was unclear at the time whether Sprint’s version would carry the full “With Google” experience or be more HTC-branded throughout. The press release mentioned most Google apps and access to thousands of titles in the Android Market, so some combination of both seemed likely.
